- ↑ Thankful's death certificate said her father was born in Colchester - Baptism: 1756, First Church of Colchester, CT, d. January 20, 1807, East Haddam, CT-- if he's the son of Elijah and Sarah BUT it concerns me that his is the only birth date estimated out of all his siblings -- it could be someone's trying to MAKE him fit into this family. There is also this -- Griswold was only about five miles from Colchester -- Sep 25, 1757 - Elijah, daughter of Joseph Johnson (Clerical error on the "daughter" I assume) / Dec 25, 1757 - Samuel, the child of Joseph Johnson - Baptisms by Rev. - ↑ Had to live at least this long to have fathered Thankful. There was an Elijah Johnson in the 1820 census in Middletown, Middlesex, Connecticut. There was also one lived and was buried in Salem, MA 7 Mar 1824 who was born 1754. There was an Elijah Johnson who is buried in The Old Burying Ground in Colchester but it looks like the year of death is wrong.
