Elijah Bartlet, s/o Elijah Bartlett and Bathsheba Gilbert, b. Brookfield 20 Jul 1760, d. 22 Aug 1840, m. 6 Nov 1783 Waitstill Clapp. He "probably" married first Bridgewater 11 May 1778 Rebecca Washburn.
[Note: inspection of Bridgewater Records shows only one marriage record on this date: Elisha Bartlet and Rebecca Waterman. Meanwhile, Brookfield records the intention for Elisha's marriage on 9 Feb but on 11 Feb list the marriage of Elijah Bartlett and Rebecca Washburn. With apologies to Mr. Hibner, but it seems more likely that all these records pertain to a single marriage: Elisha to Miss Waterman, and the record for Elijah to Miss Washburn is probably an error. Elijah wouldn't technically have been old enough to marry in 1778, and there is no death record for a first wife. It seems likely Waitstill was his only wife.]
