    Lawler Cemetery in Florence, TX.

This is the date on the marker in Lawler Cemetery..however, there are several things which indicate that the date might more likely be 1838

photo of the stone - Eli Wilburn Lawler North Carolina PVT ALA Militia Feb 6, 1802 and July 22 1837 On the stone is a star "Citizen of the Republic of Texas". This marker is from the Sons of the Republic of Texas, I think, procured by J.D.Lawler, a Lawler Family researcher. NOTE: the death date might be off a year..there is a deed in Taladega county AL that says Eli W. Lawler & wife Sarah, of the Republic of Texas, appeared in court in Talladega on Dec 25, 1837..so maybe he died in 1838??
ALSO, neither Eli nor his wife Sarah are actually buried at the Lawler Cemetery.
