    Death of Eli Carpenter.
    Eli Carpenter, aged 65 years, and who has lived on a farm near New Castle for 50 years, died Sunday of cancer, contracted by the continuous smoking of a pipe. During the last 20 years, in his waking hours, he was never without a pipe in his mouth. A widow and daughter survive him.
