Eleazer Whipple was the first of this name that settled at Warwick, R. I.; He was born in England. At what time he came to this country is not known. He owned a large track of land a little south of Pawtuxet village, in Warwick, R. I. His house where he lived is standing at this date, (1871.)
At this place he resided, when at home with his family, but as he was a sea-captain, was away a good part of the time. He was also engaged in the mercantile business. He died at sea, about 1761. He married a Miss Rhodes of Pawtuxet.
