    Mrs. Effie Fraley McGuire, 1317 Fairfax Dr., died Thursday afternoon in an Ashland hospital after an extended illness. Mrs. McGuire was born in Johnson county, a daughter of the late James and Julia Johnson Fraley.

    Long active in Civic affairs, Mrs. McGuire organized the Daughters of the American Revolution chapter in Louisa. She was a member of the Poage chapter, DAR. A member of the First Methodist Church, the White Shrine, and the Three Arts Club, she was past grand matron of the Kentucky Order of Eastern Star and a life member of Eastern Star. A former employee of the Kentucky Children’s Home, Louisville, she had resided in Ashland for the past six years. Previously she had lived in Louisville, Fort Thomas, and Louisa. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. M. J. Ferguson, Safford, Ariz.

    Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday at the John Steen Funeral Home by the Rev. C. D. Harsh. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Louisa. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Saturday. The Order of Eastern Star, Ashland Chapter 119, will conducted memorial services at 7:30 P.m. Saturday.
