Facts and Events
"Edwin Walters was, in his youth, a sailor. His ship came to New Orleans "tied up" (that is, having no cargo she was detained indefinitely in the port), and the crew was discharged. He was then about twenty years of age. (1836). Young Rodd obtained employment in the sugar and molasses house of John Hall, and gradually worked up to a partnership, and finally to the ownership of this business."
