ADA — Services for Edwin Donald "Ed" Pippenger, 91, Ada, are 10 a.m. Friday at Cushing First Christian Church, the Rev. Larry Haney will officiate. Burial will follow at Fairlawn-New Zion Cemetery in Cushing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Pippenger died Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, at a local hospital. He was born Aug. 26, 1918, at Cushing, Okla., to Simon C. and Lottie Jones Pippenger.
He graduated from Cushing High School and moved to Ada in July 2008 from Oklahoma City.
He married Laverne Cook on March 14, 1940. She died June 16, 1975. He later married Marcelene Collier on June 5, 1996.
Mr. Pippenger was a clerk in the pipe-line office of Sun Oil Company until his retirement. He was a member of the Tecumseh First Christian Church, the Allen Lodge Ancient Free and Accepted Masons 81 and he was a 32 degree Mason. Mr. Pippenger served in the U. S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Marcelene Pippenger, of the home; a son, Mike Pippenger, Ada; two grandsons, Jeremy Pippenger and wife Jennifer, Ada, and Matthew Pippenger and wife Meghan, Wilmore, Ky.; two great-grandsons, Jaken and Jaxen Pippenger; three stepsons, Wes Collier and wife Marilyn, Oklahoma City, Ron Collier and wife Fredia, Oklahoma City, and Dennis Collier and wife Wanda, McAlester; a stepdaughter, Linda Chambers and husband Neil, Oklahoma City; and one brother, Lawrence Pippenger and wife Ann, Cushing.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Pippenger and five brothers, Charles Pippenger, Everett Pippenger, John Pippenger, Lewis Pippenger, and Melvin Pippenger; and three sisters, Faustina Hicks, Gladys Martin, and Laveta Glover.
