Personal History

Edwin Overton, (fourth) son of George Overton of Bardney, wood dealer[2] or carpenter[1], by Emma[1] Hall,[2] was born on 17 February 1862 in Bardney, Lincolnshire, England; the birth was registered in the district of Lincoln by his mother on 13 March.[2] He was baptized on 4 May of the same year in the parish of Bardney.[1]

In the U.K. census of 1871, the family was residing on Ferry Road in the civil parish of Bardney.[5]

By 26 October 1871, Edwin arrived at the Port of New York on the S.S. Wisconsin with his mother, Emma Overton, and five siblings. The ship had originated in Liverpool and made a stop in Queenstown (Cobh), Ireland.[4]

Edwin died on 5 November 1879 in Vernon co., Missouri, and he was buried in Moore Cemetery, Center twp.[3]
