BIRTH: 2nd Son of John Adams Jordan. The 1870 Census for Jackson Twp., Poweshiek Co., IA lists an Edwin Jordan, age 26.

BIOGRAPHY: He enlisted Aug. 1, 1864 in Co. C, 102nd Ill. Infantry & at Wash. D.C., 24 May 1865 transfered to 16th Ill. and honorably discharged June, 1865 at Springfield, IL. However, according to the Rock Island County 102nd Infantry Record for Company C, the date of 'Enlistment or Rank' is shown as 4 Oct 1864 and date of 'Muster' as 5 Oct 1864 and at that time a resident of Coal Valley, IL. The Record lists him as a 'Recruit'. The IL Civil War Veterans Database shows rank as Recruit in the 102nd IL Vol. Infantry w/residence of Coal Valley, IL [That area became Rural Twp. in 1871]. "Our Regiment, A History of the 102nd IL Inf. Vol.", by S.F. Fleherty, pub. 1865 lists him as a resident of Rural, IL. Listed as Edwin Jordan in 1850 Fed. Census for Jackson Twp., Poweshiek Co., IA, Dist. 102 in Jun 1900, age 56, b. Dec 1843, IL, landlord, w/wife, father b. ME, mother b. OH. Listed as Edwin T. Jordan in 1910 Fed. Census for Montezuma, Poweshiek Co., IA, Dist. 117, enumerated on 30 Apr 1910, age 66, b. IL, own income, married 40 years, w/wife, father b. ME, mother b. OH. Listed as Edwin T. Jordan in 1920 Fed. Census for Montezuma, Poweshiek Co., IA, Dist. 129, enumerated on 10 Jan 1920, age 76, b. IL, w/wife.

As a youth, Edwin attended Beulah Presbyterian Church. Jeremy Jordan has a group family photo of the 4 members of the FGR for Edwin Thomas Jordan as well as Wm. John Jordan's family. Edwin emigrated Spring of 1868 to Montezuma, IA & in 1911 he was living in Montezuma, IA. His obituary states that he moved at age 12 from Mercer Co., to Rural, Rock Island Co., IL.
