Edwin W. Buzard, 56, Cherry Tree died unexpectedly Tuesday May 29, 1973 at Miners Hospital, Spangler.
Born April 12, 1917 in Pittsburgh, he was a son of Clifford and Bessie Bradley Buzard.
He had been a resident of Cherry Tree for the past 17 years.
He was a former resident of West Monterey and Barnesboro for a number of years and was a clerk at the Cherry Tree Post Office for many years.
Mr. Buzard was a member of Patton Lodge 658, F&AM, Williamsport Consistory and National Rifle Association, American Postal Workers Union, Cherry Tree Fire Company, Forest and game Protective Associarion of which he was a secretary.
He was secretary of the Cherry tree Fire Company's Ambulance Service since December 1967, and was instrumental in acquiring the Cherry tree Sportsman Building in 1967 and in forming the club. He was a certified hunter safety instructor.
He was a former secretary of the Barnesboro Lions Club and treasurer of the Cherry Tree United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his widow, Dolores Ramsey Buzard, whom he married Sept. 1, 1956; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Mildred) Pruitt, Latrobe; four step-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Mildred Tatters, Barnesboro; his step-mother, Mrs. Myrtle Brooks, Charlotte Harbor, Fla.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Sara Lee Johnson, Oil City.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Heidler Buzard.
The family is receiving friends after 2 p.m. today at Melvin C. Gwin Funeral Home, Cherry Tree, where memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday. The rev. Ronald Marsahall, Cherry tree United Methodist Church, will officiate and interment will be made in the West Monterey Cemetery, West Monterey.
Masonic services will be held at 8:30 p.m. tonight by Patton Lodge 658, F&AM at the funeral home.
There will be viewing at Graveside in the West Monterey Cemetery following committal services.
