Edwin "Huck" Beery was the town marshall of Westfield, Indiana, and was a deputy on the county sheriff's department. Huck was a member of the Fishermen Quartet of Westfield, Indiana - "the Gospel in song." The members were Edwin Beery, tenor; Jack Beery, bass; H.D. Hollingsead, baritone; and Calvin Lassiter, lead. His obituary in the Noblesville Daily Ledger on Tuesday, June 27, 1978, read, "Huck Beery Dies Suddenly Today. Retired police officer Edwin (Huck) Beery, Eagletown, died early today. He was stricken at his home and was dead on arrival at Riverview Hospital. Mr. Beery was 66 years of age. A former Firestone employee, he had served as town marshall in Westfield and as a deputy on the county sheriff's department. In last May's primary electin Mr. Beery ran for the Republican nomination for county sheriff, but was not successful. Funeral arrangements are pending at the McMullan Funeral Home in Westfield. Details will be published in tomorrow's Ledger. From Huck's funeral card, his service was at Eagle Creek Evangelical Friends Church on Friday, June 30, 1978, 10:00 a.m. The ministers were Rev. Jack Terry and Rev. John Cloe. He was interred at Summit Lawn Cemetery in Westfield, Indiana. Huck was married and had three children, two boys and a girl. References
