Research

Unsure if marriage to first wife was properly terminated, even though he states he is a Bachelor on marriage to second wife.

Have searched extensively to ascertain if there were two Edwin Balfours, however currently the assumption is bigamy.

Important to note that an entry for 1851 english census (when he was in the US), have been unable to find any Edwin Balfour.
