  Edwin Brooks Anderson Sr., 76, of Winston-Salem died Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
  He was born Nov. 19, 1927, in Raleigh to William Lee Anderson and Ruth Tate Anderson.
  He first attended N.C. State University and graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a bachelor's degree in commerce. He served in the U.S. Navy at the close of World War II and in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean War. He worked as a real-estate broker and self-employed real-estate appraiser. He was president of the Winston-Salem Board of Realtors in 1965 and of the Piedmont chapter of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers from 1976 to 1977. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he had held the offices of deacon and president of the Covenant Class. Ed had a lifelong love of nature, especially birds. He enjoyed fishing, camping and visiting North Carolina's nature museums and aquariums with his family.
  He is survived by his wife, Vada; and children Ruth of Charlottesville, Va., Edwin Jr.. and wife Katherine of Charlotte, and Andrew of Washington, D.C. He is also survived by brother William Anderson and wife Margaret of Charlotte; and sister Ruth Ramseur and husband George of Sewanee, Tennessee
  A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept 24, at First Presbyterian Church in Winston-Salem. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall. There will be a graveside service for the family at Cross Roads Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Mebane.
  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cross Roads Presbyterian Church, 3302 N. NC 119, Mebane, NC 27302 or the American Heart Association, NC Office, P.O. Box 4390, Chapel Hill, NC 27515-4390.
  Arrangements are by Vogler's Main Street Chapel.
