Facts and Events
From the research of Charles Schretzmann found at: http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/s/c/h/Charles-F-Schretzmann/GENE1-0024.html "His family lived near St. Michaels; shortened name from Urbanowski to Urban; SocSec#091-01-5046 - 12/10/97 ltr from Marie (dau). "Marriage Certificate and Register at St. Michael's RC Church gives his name as Edward Urban Oski. According to Harriet (dau), Edward ran away from home as a teenager and enlisted in the Army while 15 (went to France). He used a different name in the Army records. Harriet's mom thought his name was Urban until the day of the wedding, when they had to sign the Register. Perhaps, he used three names in order to retain Urban as his chosen last name. "Marriage Register gives Edward's address as 461 Chauncey Street, Bklyn. However, the 1920 census record for this address only lists his brothers, Frank and Stephen, and gives their last name as "Urbanoski." "Edward's DOB was given to me by both Harriet Stokes and Marie Prechtl, and also appears in the Marriage Register; DOD is from Harriet Stokes. - CFS "Died at age 61; Edward is buried in Pinelawn Cemetery - Harriet conversation, 12/21/97. "Received names of brothers and sisters from Marie and Harriet." |
