Unit: Company I, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division, Service number 1183788. Familysearch incorrectly lists birthplace as Bozeman, MT. His birth certificate has mother's name spelled incorrectly as Doris Walling. Actual spelling is Doris Welling.

    HANNIBAL - Word has been received in Hannibal of the death of Pfc. Edward Taggart in Korea on Monday, July 21. Pfc. Taggart was the son of Mrs. Dorris Taggart, formerly of Hannibal and now in Bozeman, Montana.
    He enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps in May 1951 and had served with the First Marine Division in Korea since October.
    At the time of his death in action he was making his last trip to the front lines prior to being sent back to the United States.
