obit Edward W. Reynolds - Edward W. Reynolds, 57, a native of Mount Holly, died at his home in Hickory, North Carolina, early Wednesday morning after having been ill for a long time. Mr. Reynolds was born in Mount Holly, the son of the late Alfred J. and Cordelia M. Reynolds. Mrs. Reynolds died about a month ago. Mr. Reynolds received his education in the Mount Holly public schools and after taking a business course, accepted a position at the S. T. Engle hardware store as bookkeeper. Later he was employed for several years with the Bennett Lumber Company in Camden, but during this period continued to live in Mount Holly. About 30 years ago, shortly after his marriage to Miss Bertha Wright, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. N. J. Wright, he removed to Hickory, where he had formed many business acquaintanceships while traveling for the lumber firm, hoping that the climate here would benefit his health. In the Southern State he engaged in the furniture manufacturing business and was actively identified with this industry for several years, until continued failure of health caused him to retire. Since then he has conducted business on a smaller scale as an expert cabinet maker. The Rev. and Mrs. Wright, both well known in Mount Holly, where Mr. Wright held a pastorate at the First Methodist Church, went to Hickory to make their home with the Reynolds family after the former's retirement from the ministry. Mr. Wright died there a few years ago. Mr. Reynolds is survived by his wife, two sons, Nomer and James, all of Hickory, and two sisters, Mrs. J. Frank Scattergood and Mrs. John J. Cardwell, both of Mount Holly.
