This indenture made the twenty first day of August in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety Nine between Robert King of the county of Knox and State of Tennessee of the one part and Edward McGinnis of the county of Grainger and State aforesaid of the other part, witnesseth that the said Robert King for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred and thirty dollars the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained sold and by these presents doth grant bargain seal and confirm unto the said Edward McGinnis his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract of land containing four hundred acres more or less, lying and being in the county of Grainger on the North side of Clinch Mountain near the popular lucls?, including a sinkhole spring about three miles above the Kentucky trace, beginning at a post oak on the south side of a ridge, West three hundred and sixty poles to a stake, then North one hundred and eight poles to a stake and from thence to the beginning with all the singular woods, water water courses profits commodaties here ? ? and appurtenances whatsoever to the said tract of land belonging to the said tract of land belonging or appertaining and the revision and r ?, remainder and remainding/, rent and isours and all the estate right title interest right interest property claim and demand of his the said Robert King in and to the same and every part of either law or equity. To have and to hold the said four hundred acres to him the said Edward McGinnis his heirs and assigns forward the said Robert King for himself and heirs of the aforesaid tract of land will forever defend the same against the lawful claim dower of all and every person or persons shall and will by these presents warrant and forever defend by these presents.
