From "Some Descendants of Edward Jackson" by Matella Prickett Doughman: "They were stationed at Fayoum, Egypt as missionaries from 4 Nov 1913 to 4 Dec. 1914. When World War I broke out, they were at sea shore for rest, but went up country for three and half months before the American Counsel advised them to leave. . . They were sent to Athens, Greece where their son, Wesley Clark Long was born 6 Dec 1914."

The couple had an additional seven children: Anna Dorcas, Andrew, John Thomas, Edward Silas, Evelyn Priscilla, Mildred Grace and Phyllis Audrey.
