Facts and Events
Ed Hamilton was a taxi cab driver who was nationally noted (by columnist Irv Kupicinet) for providing amenities (coffee, papers, etc.) in his cab in the fifties plus neighborhood parties for neighborhood kids and relative kids, He also had his life presented on the TV prpgram "This is your life" back in the fifties. I knew Ed in early manhood found him somewhat crude away from limelight. 1930 Federal Census (ED298)-Ed was living with the Edward T. Hamilton Family at 7755 S. Clyde, Chicago. Census indicated that Ed was a cousin although Ed was age 27 and Edward T. was age 63. Others in the household were Mary J. (wife) 62 and son Joseph T. 18. Census indicated that Ed was divorced and was a traveling salesman of woolen goods like Edward T. . He was born in Connecticut; father was born in New Jersey; mother was born in British Columbia. Barbara Youpel indicated that Toots and Ed were divorced for about 15 years and then got back together later. |
