 I am the grandson of the founder of Cutter Laboratories. The company was founded in Fresno, CA in 1897 by Edward Ahern Cutter, Sr. It moved to Berkeley, CA in 1903 and remained there. His three sons were Robert Kennedy Cutter, M.D., Edward Ahern Cutter, Jr. and Frederic Amaziah Cutter. All were associated with the Company. My brother Robert, Jr. and I were associated with the company as was E. A. Cutter, III. The company was aquired by Bayer A.G. in 1974. It was merged into Miles Laboratories later on and today the company no longer exists. We are descendants of Elizabeth Cutter who came to Cambridge, MA from Newcastle on Thyme about 1640.
