    Edward "Dale" Cavener, age 72, of Springfield, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at St. John's Hospital. Dale was born October 21, 1934, in Walnut Grove, Mo., to Cleo and Mable (Martin) Cavener. Dale grew up in Crane, Mo., and graduated from Crane High School in 1952. He was an electrician employed with City Utilities for 33 years, retiring in 1997. Dale enjoyed his work and the camaraderie shared with numerous co-workers, during work and in his free time. One of Dale's favorite pastimes was visiting with friends and family, and traveling in his RV. Dale was a dedicated husband and father to his six children, and a loyal friend to everyone he knew. Dale was extremely proud of his 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. It was his grandkids that made Dale's life complete - they could turn his worse days into days of absolute pleasure. On December 22, 1956, Dale married Eva Louise Fitchpatrick at the First Baptist Church in Lamar, Mo. Dale and Louise celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past December, surrounded by those they love. Dale is survived by his wife, Louise, and four daughters all of Springfield: Marsha Burke and her husband, Brady; Debbie Bellamy and her husband, David; Lori Twitty; and Melissa Waters and her husband, Robert. He is also survived by two sons, Steve Cavener and his wife, Kim, Marshfield, Mo., and Greg Cavener and his wife, Dana, Nevada, Mo. Surviving siblings and spouses are: Ray and Sandra Cavener, Marionville; Denzel and Pat Cavener, Crane; Marge Cavener, Springfield; Shirley and Denny Shoemaker, Aurora; Linda and Larry Crowe, Fordland; Tom and Janet Cavener, Springfield; Jim and Judy Cavener, Crane; and his sister-in-law, Phyllis Cavener, Republic. Preceding Dale is death were his parents, two brothers, Jerry "J.D." and Bill Cavener, and one sister, Julie Cavener. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2007, at Macedonia Baptist Church, Springfield, with Reverend Charles Hufft officiating. Graveside services to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Crane, Mo. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. today, July 13, 2007, at Greenlawn South Funeral Home. Memorial contributions in Dale's memory can be made to the American Diabetes Association Memorial Program, PO Box 11537, Alexandria, VA 22312. Dale will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends. We love you, Dad.
