Billy was a progressive farmer in Hamilton county and retired to Arizona where the author was able to interview him. Billy's family owned the country store in the village of Aroma. He and the author's father, Glen, spent many hours talking while their wives took over the house for their "Just Us" women's club meetings. His son Ron has his family files in Michigan City. In those files, Billy records the first American AULT was a French Huguenot who worked for the German government in the mid 1700's. England employed the armed force he was part of, and sent them to British Canada. From that location they participated in the Revolutionary War (as mercenaries) which ended up creating America. As the defeated troops gathered at the docks to board a ship to return to Europe, he decided to take his pay and buy a farm in Maryland. From there, the family emigrated to Pennsylvania, Ohio and finally to Indiana. At the end of his life, he was layed to rest north of Miami, Ohio. 11/2003

EDWARD W. AULT JR.-

PINETOP, ARIZ.- Edward W. Ault Jr., (Bill) died peacefully on Aug. 3, 2006. He was born in Aroma, Oct. 12, 1919, the only child of Ed and Mabel Ault. Bill lived in Aroma until his retirement from farming and Steel Plants Corporation. He then spent his remaining years with his beloved wife, Martha. They spent seven years RV-ing the country and then settled in Vero Beach, Fla. until ill health to be with their daughter, Judy Ault, in Pinetop, Ariz. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Martha and his son, Jeff Ault.

He is survived by: a son, Ron Ault; a daughter-in-law, Jeanne Ault from Eden, N.C.; daughter, Judy Ault from Pinetop, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Derek Ault of Atlanta, Ind.; Chris Ault of LaPorte, Ind.; Angela Floyd of Howe, Ind.; Kristy Floyd of Denver, Colo. and daughter-in-law, Sheri Ault of Atlanta, Ind. Bill will be sorely missed by family. Cremation was done by 11 a.m. A memorial dinner will be held at a future date. Friends of the family can contact them at: navjudy@@wmonline.com .
