Edna attended Nursing School in Bloversville, NY, and was a 2nd Lt. in the Army Nurse Corps in World War II, serving in North Africa. Vincent was an enlisted man, and her chaplain had to help her "fraternize" with him, which was not allowed in the Army. He passed their messages and set up their dates. They married before going overseas, and had to keep their marriage a secret; she wore her rings around her neck with her dogtags. After the war she was Nursing Supervisor at Genesee Hospital in Rochester, NY.
