SHOCKEY-BUMBARGER Daily American, August 28, 1996 Edna Lydia Shockey-Bumbarger, 90, of Friedens RD 1, died Aug. 27, 1996, at Somerset Hospital. Born March 15, 1906, in Lincoln Township. Daughter of the late Lorenza and Edith (Baker) Baker. Preceded in death by parents; first husband, Vernon Israel Shockey, who died on May 25, 1982, and second husband, Ray Bumbarger who died Jan. 4, 1989; son, Jay Earl Shockey; daughter, Betty Shockey, and an infant son; sisters: Elizabeth Lehman and Ruby McCusker, and a brother, Clinton Baker. Survived by these children: Mrs. Edward (Dorothy) Schmucker, Ephrata; Mrs. Clyde L. (Ruth) Platt, Berlin RD 1; Mrs. Reid O. (Jean) Walker, Somerset; Roy H. Shockey, married to the former Flo Ann Claycomb, Friedens RD 1; Mrs. H. Mark (Janet) Gulliver, Millville; Dale R. Shockey, married to the former Paulette Hostetler, Friedens RD 1; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ada Shockey, Friedens RD 1; 71 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. Sister of Mrs. Lester (Viola) Shaffer, Somerset RD 3; Mrs. Stanley (Lyadene) O'Kinsky, Somerset RD 3. Member of Somerset Alliance Church. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Somerset Alliance Church, with the Rev. Dr. Melvin E. Vance officiating. Interment, New Centerville Union Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 116 S. Allegheny St., Bellefonte, PA 16823. Viewing at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service. |
