    [Note: the memorial page says "The parent's of Edmund Bemis are not certain. He is thought to have come from Sturbridge, Mass and may be the son of Capt. Edmund & Eunice (Chadwick) Bemis.". Their intentions to marry are found in Leicester VRs (p. 122) dated 1749, so while he could be a son of Edmund, Eunice could not be his mother. The Bemis Genealogy does not show any earlier wife for Capt. Edmund (here) and does not offer any indication of the younger man's parents.]
