    Edith I. Rizer 20040505 Edith I. Rizer MOUNT SAVAGE - Edith Idella (Sleeman) Rizer, 94, formerly of Mount Savage, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at Rest Assured Living Center in Meyersdale, Pa. Born July 10, 1909 in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Wesley H. and Myrtle (Ridgely) Sleeman. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Richard T. Rizer; one son, John Richard; one sister, Helen Kathleen Kerr; and one brother, Charles Herbert Sleeman. Mrs. Rizer was a 1927 graduate of Beall High School and graduated from Frostburg State University in 1929. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Penn State University in 1954. She was a teacher for the Allegany County school system retiring in 1969 with 25 years of service. She was a member of the Mount Savage United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Allegany County Retired Teachers Association and the Maryland State Teachers Association. Surviving are her daughter, Jane R. Miller and husband James, Corriganville; one granddaughter, Cheryl Ann Bielen and husband Gregg, Centreville, Va.; one stepgranddaughter, Julie Ann Miller, Cumberland; one stepgrandson, J. Shawn Miller and wife Regina, Frostburg; three great-grandchildren, Matthew Richard, Ashleigh Marie and Emily Nicole Bielen, Centreville; and special nephew, Donald W. Kerr, Millsboro, Del. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave, Frostburg, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Broome officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Savage Methodist Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gregg Bielen, Shawn Miller, Wayne Miller, Donald Keene, George Twigg and Thomas Rizer and honorary pallbearer will be Mathew Bielen.
