Edith N. Tullis, 97, of Martinsville, died Sept. 10, 2000, at Kennedy Living Center.

She was born April 13, 1903, and was the daughter of Daniel W. and Dora Elgin Norman. She married Fred C. Tullis in 1928. He died in 1966.

Mrs. Tullis was a 1922 graduate of Martinsville High School and attended Madame Blaker's and Indiana University for her teacher's license. In her early years, she taught school for six years at the old Jones School.

She spent most of her life in Morgan County, where she was a charter member of the Humane Society and the Literary Club. She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority, XI Chapter, and a member of the Department Club. She served on the Board of the First State Bank of Morgantown for 25 years.

Her principal interests were the country, nature, animals and world travel.

Survivors include two nieces, Marguerite Hicks of Martinsville and Pauline Baker of Indianapolis; a great-niece, Jacqueline Moore of Indianapolis; two great-nephews, Daniel J. Robinson of Mooresville and William D. Robinson of Martinsville; and several great-great-nieces and nephews.

Two brothers died as children. A sister, Bethel Robinson, is deceased and a nephew, Ralph L. Robinson, died in 1996.

The service will be Wednesday, Sept. 13, at Costin Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Ray Unger will officiate.

Burial will be in East Hill Cemetery at Morgantown.

Friends may call Tuesday, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the mortuary.
