1895 - Birth registered in name of Edgar WHISKER according to GRO Index, even though his mother's birth and later marriage are recorded with the surname WHISTLER. He was later known as Edgar WOMACK, after his mother's marriage to Edgar WOMACK in 1897. It is not known for certain whether Edgar WOMACK was his natural father, although given that they have the same first names, it appears quite possible. 1901 - With parents, living at 6 Hebron Terrace, Morley Road, Leyton, Essex, aged 5. 1913 - Enlisted in the Royal Navy at Chatham for 12 years. Service No. K 20128. Height 5ft 7 in, chest 35 in, hair brown, eyes brown, complexion fresh. Scar under left eye and indistinct tattoo on left arm. Previous occupation "Vanguard". 1914 - Updated personal details records height now 5 ft 8½ in and chest 36 3/8in. Also tip missing from index finger of right hand and tattoo ___ on both arms. 1913-14 - Served on Pembroke II and Hebe as Stoker II. 1914-24 - Served on numerous ships as Stoker I. 1924-25 - Acting leading Stoker on Vulcan. 1925-28 - Leading Stoker on Vulcan, Dolphin & Ambrose. 1928 - Acting SPO on Ambrose, then to Pembroke II at which point the record is transferred to another file. 1939/40 - Injured while serving with the RN, was rescued and subsequently died in hospital. Buried in a war grave in Hornchurch, Essex. 1940 - Edgar was a Petty Officer Stoker (C/K20128) with the Royal Navy when he died, aged 46. Buried in Grave 299, Section D at Hornchurch Cemetery, Essex. Living at 34 Saunton Road, Hornchurch, but died at 1 Oldchurch Road, Romford. (probate entry) 1966 - Administration granted in London on 20 April to his widow Pauline May Womack.
