Edgar "Doc" Beal, 91, of Franklin Township, formerly of Connellsville, passed away Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004, in the Blue Amber Country Home, Flatwoods, with his son and daughter-in-law, Don and Cindy Beal by his side. He was born May 3, 1912, in Owensdale, a son of the late John and Nellie (Dewalt) Beal. Doc was formerly employed by the former B&0 Railroad, Rack Engineering and Cottom Brothers Transit. He was a Protestant by faith and formerly attended the Albright United Methodist Church in South Connellsville. Doc is survived by two sons, Kenneth Beal and wife, Joan; Paul Beal, of Meyersdale and Donald Beal and wife, Cindy, of Bear Rocks; three daughters, Sharon Reel of Hertford, N.C., Barbara Tissue and husband, Charles, of Erie and Elaine Goecke and husband, Peter, of Hertford, N.C.; nine grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Doc was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two infant sons, Thomas and David Beal, two sisters, Viola Davis and Pauline Dawson, and three brothers, George, Blaine and Merle Beal. Family and friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Byron Tate Fulton officiating.
