Source:The Libby family in America, 1602-1881, p. 63: In 1765 he became one of the early settlers of Machias, but returned soon after and settled on Pleasant Hill [in Scarborough]. Like his father, he was a land surveyor, and clerk of the proprietors of the town from 1776 until his death. He engaged largely in shipbuilding and in trade with the West Indies. He accumulated a large property and became probably the most wealthy man in Black Point parish.
