HADEN, Ebenezer, s. Elias and Hannah, [born] Nov. 22, 1766.
↑ There is a baptism of Ebenezer Hayden in Hopkinton on 8 Jul 1770. Based on the normal rules of vital records, this could be because the name is spelled differently than the birth of Ebenezer Haden in 1766, or because it is more than one year after his birth. Both of these cases would indicate it is the same Ebenezer. However brother Moses Haden is born in 1768 and he is not baptised in 1770 (which should be reported for the same reasons, and which should have happened if baptisms were delayed for some extraneous reason like lack of a minister). Therefore this 1770 baptism is assumed to be a separate child of the same name, and thus that this child died by 1770. Note that no son Ebenezer is mentioned in the will of the father dated 1797, so regardless of whether one or two, any and all sons named Ebenezer died by 1797..
