  3. More work is need on this death date. The Middlesex Probate Index lists file 4330 in 1752 for Ebenezer Chenery, and file 4329 in 1754 for Ebenezer Chenery. One would think this indicates Ebenezer d. 1752. (Presumably one file is the guardian papers for the son Ebenezer, born 1734.) One alleged death date, however, can be ruled out confidently: Source:Cutter, William Richard. Genealogical and Personal Memoirs Relating to the Families of Boston and Eastern Massachusetts, p. 3:1364, says Ebenezer d. 28 Jul 1723 in some military service, and then proceeds to list several children born to him after this date!?!
  4.   Source:Bond, Henry. Family Memorials. Genealogies of the Families and Descendants of the Early Settlers of Watertown, Massachusetts, Including Waltham and Weston (1855), p. 158, says under CHINERY: "Ebenezer, b. Nov. 10, 1697; m. (1st) HANNAH CUTTER [26], by whom he had one child. He m. (2d) RUTH ---, o. c. July 18, 1724 [sic, church records say she owned the covenant 18 Jul 1725]." The marriage to Hannah appears to probably not have occurred, merely an assumption derived from the birth of the child. See the discussion on Family:Ebenezer Chenery and Hannah Cutter (1). The Ruth whom he did marry is identified incorrectly as Ruth Allen by several sources, including Source:New England Historical and Genealogical Register, "Lewis Allen and His Descendants" by Allen H. Bent, p. 54:397. No explanation: is given how this identification was arrived at. Source:Eddy, Ruth Story Devereux. Eddy Family in America, p. 44 (#54, child ii) says this Ruth died unmarried, with no date as well as no explanation. The answer is provided by the will of Joshua Fuller in 1741/42, which names a daughter "Ruth Chennery" (Source:NEHGR, p. 139:308), showing the correct identification of Ebenezer's wife to be Ruth Fuller, b. Cambridge 14 Nov 1702.
