[edit] Personal History1777 - Birth: Duncan Gilchrest was born on June 29, 1777 in Mulindra (now Mulindry) village, Bowmore and Kilarrow Parish, Isle of Islay, Argyll County, Scotland. Source is transcript of Parochial Registers of Baptisms 1763-1819 County of Argyll, Bowmore and Kilarrow, Scotland. Microfilm #1041078. 1802 - Marriage: Duncan Gilchrist married Barbara Taylor on June 9, 1802 in Bowmore and Kilarrow Parish, Isle of Islay, Argyll County, Scotland. Source is transcript of Parochial Registers of Marriages 1771-1819 County Argyll, Bowmore and Kilarrow Parish, Islay. Microfilm #1041078 NOTE: This was 2 months before their first child, Isabella, was born. They may have been married in the Bowmore Round Church. 1826 - Immigration: Duncan Gilchrist, Barbara Taylor and 7? of the younger children immmigrated to Canada and settled in the Peterboro. Barbara died at sea. (NOTE: His eldest daughter, Isabella Gilchrist was married that year and stayed in Islay.) Three of the daughters and one son settled in Oro Township.
