DUANE E. WAKE, 90, passed away Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at Visiting Nurse in Fort Wayne. Born Feb. 24, 1923, in Fort Wayne. Duane graduated from South Side High School and was a World War II Marine veteran. He worked for International Harvester for 34 years, retiring in 1975. Some of his interests included golfing as well as raising and breeding tropical fish for many years. One of his passions was walking in Foster Park Gardens for 37 years. His other passion was spending time at his pool surrounded by family and friends. Surviving are his son, Michael (Colette) Wake of Wayne, Pa.; daughters, Cheryl (John) Ross of Corunna, and Kathy Woodward of New Haven; grandchildren, Sherri Baker, Steve (Beate) Wake, Jennifer (Gipper) Monson, Matt (Katie) Wake, and Jason Soest; and 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Myron and Fayona Wake; wife, Phyllis Wake; sister, Martha Schultz; and son-in-law, Danny Woodward. Service is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road with calling one hour prior. Rev. David Mitchell officiating. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne, Ind.
