Algie was killed during the war. in military uniform. With the U.S. delay in joining the allies, Douglas went to Winnipeg, Canada and joined a cavalry regiment of the Fort Garry Horse. Bertha and Douglas took a dislike to each other. B thought his manners 'dreadful'. But like all good love stories that changed completely. In 1939 Douglas Berry and family moved to Edmonton and did a drafting job but was a prison guard during WW II and some government job after. |
