1930 census lists her as a servant to the Paul family at the Auburn Private Hospital. She and her sister Ruth are listed in 1942 & 1944 Auburn Directory at 36 High. Listed in 1951 Auburn Directory as a beautician at Gilbert's Permanent Wave Shop in Lewiston. 1953 & 1954 Directory lists her as manager of the shop.

Dorothy H. Wardwell, 90, died March 27, 2000, at Caribou. She was born at Perham, Dec. 1, 1909, the daughter of Leroy and Segrid (Akerson) Wardwell. Dorothy owned and operated Dot's Beauty Shop in Auburn for many years and was a member of the Caribou United Baptist Church. She is survived by five sisters, Captola Dahlgren, Ruth Sager, Geneva Rossignol and Leona Jackson, all of Caribou, and Marjorie Nadeau of Bathavia, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Kenton Nadeau and his wife Carole, of Caribou. Graveside services held at a later date at Fairview Cemetery, Perham, will be announced in the Bangor Daily News by Mockler Funeral Home, Caribou. Friends who wish may contribute in memory of Dorothy may do so through the Caribou Nursing Home Memorial Fund or to the Caribou United Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
