Dorothy R. Pierrard, 88, passed away October 1, 2015 at Oakwood Health Campus.
She was born February 21, 1927 in Bristow, Indiana, daughter of the late Walter and Lucy (Lanman) Esarey. Also preceding her in death were sisters, Edith Esarey, Katherine Esarey, Rebecca Rickenbaugh, and Elsie McDaniel and brothers, Walter “Mac” Esarey and Murl Esarey.
Dorothy was united in marriage on June 14, 1949, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Bristow to William H. “Bill” Pierrard. She retired in 1987 from General Electric where she worked for 43 years. Dorothy was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and Hoosier Heights Country Club. She enjoyed playing golf, quilting, and coin collecting.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Bill Pierrard; daughters, Janet Macy (Wayne), Hardinsburg, Kentucky, and Cyntha Joyal (Michael), Middleburg, Florida; sister, Julia LeMaire (Dallas), Tell City; three grandchildren, Jenna Macy, Lisa Rhoad (Kevin), and Sean Joyal and three great grandchildren, Dylan, Mackenzie, and Lane Rhoad.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, October 5, 2015, at St. Paul Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Rev. Dennis Duvelius will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 PM Sunday and from 8:30 until 9:30 AM Monday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel.
