    Wilcox, Dorothy Dreher

    MADISON

Dorothy Dreher Wilcox passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008. She was the only daughter of Margaret (Brown) and Richard Dreher. She was born on the family farm in Brooklyn, on Oct. 9, 1925. Dorothy was proud of the fact that her dad would tell people she was the best boy he had. On Sept. 19, 1949, she became an Army wife and was the rock of the family. Dorothy's army duties included long separations from her spouse, packing up the household and moving her family to the next army post, sometimes halfway across the world. She accomplished this with amazing courage and love. Dorothy returned to the Madison area in 1963 and started her career as a devoted aide at Central Colony. Dorothy's passion in life was music, she loved to sing, yodel and play the accordion. She loved telling stories, reading, road trips, ceramics and crocheting. Dorothy shopped Goodwill long before it was vogue! Dorothy is survived by her children, Linda (Chuck) Meinholz of Madison, Cathy (Jeff) Leinbach of Rural Hall, N.C., Peggy (Brian) Bieri of Seymour and Rod (Marline) Wilcox of DeForest; seven grandchildren, Jeff (Tabitha) Leinbach of Durham, N.C., Thomas Leinbach of Rural Hall, N.C., Adam Meinholz of Madison, Laurie Meinholz of Decorah, Iowa, Rachel, Ben and Daniel Wilcox of DeForest; and one great-grandchild, Adain Leinbach. She is further survived by her sisters-in-law, Marge Dreher of Dallas, Texas and Sally Dreher of Madison. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Richard and Arthur Dreher. A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, at the FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 172 N. Main, Oregon, where friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service. The Reverend Clara Thompson will officiate.
