Obituary CASTLE HILL - Mrs. Dorothy L. McHatten, 30, died January 1 in a Presque Isle hospital after a long illness. Mrs. McHatten was born in North Adams, Mass., January 19, 1927, daughter of Henry and Ora Sawyer Chalifoux. She had lived in Castle Hill for the past 12 years, and was a member of Castle Hill Grange and of St. Mary`s Catholic Church of Presque Isle. Surviving her are her husband, Rowell A. McHatten, and a son, Rowell Jr., of Castle Hill; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Chalifoux of North Adams, Mass.; two brothers, Leonard Chalifoux of Philadelphia, Pa., and Henry Chalifoux Jr. of of North Adams, Mass.; three sisters, Mrs. Lawrence Jeffers, Mrs. Raymond Cutler and Mrs. Raymond Rone all of North Adams; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 9 o`clock in St. Mary`s Catholic Church, the Rev. John J. Harris officiating. Bearers were Dana, Dale and Hughy McHatten and Herbert Watt. Interment will be in the Castle Hill Cemetery. ------------------------------------- Obituary from The North Adams Transcript Mrs. Rowell McHatten Mrs. Dorothy (Chalifoux) McHatten, 30, wife of Rowell McHatten of Presque Isle, Me., and a native and former resident of North Adams, died 11 o`clock last night at the Presque Isle General Hospital after a long illness. Mrs. McHatten was born in North Adams, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Chalifoux, who currently reside at 492 Union St., this city. After attending Houghton School and Drury High School, she was employed by the former Windsor Print Works and the Sprague Electric Co. before moving to Presque Isle where she met her husband. She was married about 11 years ago. She was a member of Notre Dame Church in this city. Survivors, besides her husband and parents are one son, Rowell McHatten Jr. of Presque Isle; three sisters, Mrs. Lawrence Jeffers, Mrs. Raymond Cutler and Mrs. Raymond Rone, all of North Adams, and two brothers, Leonard Chalifoux of Levittown, Pa., and Henry Chalifoux Jr. of this city. Funeral services will be held Saturday in St. Mary`s Church in Presque Isle. The body is at the R.W. Wright Funeral Home there. |
