Biography of Dorothy Frances Browning

Dorothy was born on 18 April 1895 in Orange, Essex, New Jersey^[5]. As a young lady, Dorothy traveled, making trips by ship to several foreign countries. At the age of 19 in June of 1914, she is listed in the passenger list for the "Princess Irene" on a voyage from Naples, Italy to New York^[7]. She also traveled from Havana,Cuba to New York on the "Pastores" in January of 1915^[7]. Dorothy married Arthur Wilson DeBaun, the son of Stephen Johnson DeBaun and Mary Adelaide Milburn on 29 April 1916^[10]. He was born on the 6 Nov 1892 in Haverstraw, Rockland, New York. They made their home in Orange, New Jersey where three sons were born. They divorced about 1925/1926. Dorothy then married Ralph Randolph Lee, son of Ambrose Rice Lee and Mary Stephens on 21 August 1929 in Maine^[8]. He was born on 6 June 1879 in Erie, Pennsylvania. Dorothy again traveled from Boulogne Sur Mer, France to New York on 3 December 1929 on the Ship Minnetonka^[7]. On the 1930 U S Census, Dorothy and Ralph Lee were living in Washington, D.C.^[4] where he was a lawyer. She was divorced around 1935 as she is listed on the 1940 census in Catalina, Los Angeles County, California living alone^[6] and she states that she was living in Orange, New Jersey in 1935. She moved to California along with her sister's family and two of her sons. Dorothy died in Costa Mesa, Orange, California on 21 March 1982^[13][14]. She was cremated by the Nepture Society and her ashes were believed scattered at sea^[14].
