Named in Walter Avey's obituary[3] as his daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Day Amundson. She married Martin Amundson in 1942[5]. If her death record is the correct one, they later divorced.

    It is not certain that this is the right person - her birth year is about 5 years later than it should be. However, there doesn't appear to be a Dorothy Day born 1917 in Kentucky, daughter of John and Mary Day, in the 1920 census. It is assumed that her age at death was understated and that this is the adopted (?) daughter of Walter Avey.
