Doris Evelyn Last was born on December 23, 1916 on a farm near Iowa Falls, Iowa. She was the eldest of three children born to Arthur and Mary (Adamson) Ward. Doris lived in Williams, Rockford and Iowa Falls, and graduated from high school in Iowa Falls in 1935. On February 17, 1936, Doris was united in marriage to Henry Last at Rockford, Illinois. They lived in the Iowa Falls area, Alden and moved to Hubbard in the mid-1940's. The farmed north of Hubbard. Henry passed away in 1965. Doris remained on the farm until 1974, then moved to Alden and returned to Hubbard in 1988. On Wednesday, August 25, 1999, Doris passed away at the Ellsworth Hospital in Iowa Falls following a severe heart attack. Those remaining to cherish her memory include her three sons, William Last and his wife Rita of Bernalillo, New Mexico, Larry Last and his wife Andrea of Hubbard, Iowa, and Carroll Last of DeWitt, Iowa; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one brother Robert Ward of Hampton, Iowa; and one sister Carol Larson of Iowa Falls, Iowa; along with many other relatives and friends, including a very special friend, Carroll Nassen. She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Mary Ward, her husband, Henry and one son Robert. Memorial service will be held Monday, August 30,1999 at 100:00 a.m. at Boeke Funeral Home in Hubbard, Iowa. Casketbearers will be Tyler Last, Rick Last, Roger Last, Seth Last, Bryan Last and William Klemme. Interment will follow at Northlawn Memory Gardens, Iowa Fall, Iowa.
