Mrs.. Doris Long Durham BURLINGTON — Mrs.. Doris Long Durham, 92, of 502 Lakeside Ave., died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Alamance Health Care after several months of failing health.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Shrewd Rich Durham, and the daughter of Mr. John Wesley Long and Mrs.. Eva Mitchell Long, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elon. She was a member of the Wesleyan Sunday School class and the Happy Morning Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs.. Eva Lynn Durham Smith of Prospect Hill; a son, Mr. Ronald Wesley Durham of Burlington; two sisters, Mrs.. Tom (Clarice) Durham of Burlington and Mrs.. Howard (Laura) Hensley of Charlotte; a brother, Mr. J. Bryon Long of Burlington; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ms. Annie Maude Thomas, Ms. Helen Staley and Ms. Ruby Turnage; and two brothers, Mr. B.B. Long and Mr. Vernon Long.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2001, at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Randy Innes, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Elon college; assisted by the Rev. Harvey Lee Edwards, pastor of Chatham United Methodist Church; and the Rev. Melissa McKinnon, associate pastor of First United Methodist Church of Elon.

Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 1 to 1:45 p.m. before the service, and at other times at the home.
