Doris Faye Rainbolt, a long-term resident of Hillsboro, passed on May 8, 2017.
Doris and her identical twin sister, Lois, were born on July 20, 1937 in Auburn, Kansas. The sisters were two of four children born to William and Emma (Maus) Hoppe. She was raised in a farming community and was very active in 4-H and her high school band. Doris graduated from Auburn High School in 1955 and received further training as an executive assistant.
She married Glen Rainbolt on July 29, 1956 and the couple had three children. Early in the couple’s marriage, the family traveled throughout the world with the U.S. Air Force. The family returned to Oregon in 1968 making Hillsboro their home.
Doris made her family and faith her first priority and after her children left home assumed a career as a marketing specialist until her retirement in 1993. Doris’ s life- long hobby was art and she was an accomplished painter whose works will remain treasures of family and friends.
Her parents and two siblings precede her in death. She is survived by her older sister, Marjorie Cole; her three children, Douglas, Christine, and Jill,and their respective spouses; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
The family suggests donations be made in Doris’ name to either the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or to Hospice Care of the Northwest.
