DORIS CRANDALL SCOTT, 89, of Ocala, Fla., formerly of Huntington, passed away Sunday May 18, 2003, in Ocala, Fla. Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2003, at Chapman's Mortuary with the Rev. Thomas P. Nolan Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park. She was born June 12, 1913, in Buffalo, W.Va., a daughter of the late Charles Wesley and Rosa Lee Plants Crandall of Putnam County. She graduated from Booth's Business College and attended Marshall University. She was retired from the Huntington office of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and formerly worked for the Huntington office of the Veterans Administration. She was a member of the Beverly Hills Methodist Church, a charter member of the Womans Society of Christian Service, and the Leah Circle. Her husband, Charles G. Scott, preceded her in death in 1992. Three sisters also preceded her in death, Ethel Flood of Huntington, Avalee Guthrie of Proctorville, Ohio, and Bulah Hagar of Wilksboro, N.C., also a brother, Lowell Crandall of Dearborn, Mich. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and M.V. Schmolesky of Ocala, Fla.; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles W. "Chuck" Scott and Judith Scott of Westminster, Calif.; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Chapmans Mortuary.
