Some researchers list Dora's father to be Lewis(Louis) Church. Louis and Edith were not married at the time. Her birth certificate list her as being "illegimate." Story goes that either her Edith's step-father, Daniel Harpst, or a step-brother may be that father. At this time, there is no documentation or family story to confirm which one is the father. The 1880 U.S. census shows that Edith is living with her step-father and mother.
