Donald W. Steiner of Jeannette, a retired bricklayer, died Nov. 6, 2010, in the William Penn Care Center, Penn Township. He was 85.
Mr. Steiner was born June 7, 1925, in Jeannette to the late Wesley and Christine (Bengel) Steiner. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran. Also, he had worked for Cloverleaf Golf Course in Delmont. He was a member of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 9 and was a longtime member of Jeannette Assembly of God Church.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty J. (Wolfe) Steiner; two children, Terry L. Steiner of Jeannette and Margie L. (and husband, Paul) Coran of Westfield, N.Y.; three sisters, Norma J. Bevans of Bushnell, Fla., Carol Vargo of North Huntingdon and Mary Ann France of Leechburg; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation and services, officiated by the Rev. Martin Koss of the Jeannette Assembly of God Church, were private, as were full military honors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 33 honor guard and interment in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. Vaia Funeral Home Inc., Delmont, handled arrangements. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Medi Home Health & Hospice, 9173 Route 30, Irwin, PA 15642. Include Mr. Steiner's name on the memo line of the check.
