Obituary

Donald D. “Barney” Barnes, 82, of St. Marys, formerly of Spencerville, died at 8:50 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, at the St. Marys Living Center.

He was born on July 14, 1929, in Auglaize County, the son of Alfred and Mabel (Greymyre) Barnes, and they preceded him in death.

On Oct. 27, 1973, he married Hazel Elrod, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 25, 1996.

He is survived by three children, Steven (Rita) Barnes of Spencerville, Sue Barnes of Dayton and Tim (Stacie) Barnes of Spencerville; a stepdaughter, Kim Elrod of Knoxville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Barnes; three sisters; three brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville, with the Rev. Alva Daniel officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
