Mrs. Wm. Vander Burg, 93 years old, oldest resident of Orange City died 8 Mar 1942, Sunday afternoon at 3:15 in the De Bey hospital She suffered a broken hip and arm in a fall which she received from a sudden faintness or heart attack Friday, a week ago.

In 1872 she was united in marriage to Wm. Vander Burg at Rijssen, Netherlands. This union was blessed with 8 children. One child died in the Netherlands and two children died here in Sioux county.

In 1882 she and her husband and 4 children came to the U.S. A. and settled at Cleveland, OH. In 1883 they came to Sioux County, living for a short while near Newkirk but in 1844 they settled in Orange City where she spent the remainder of her years.

December 10, 1918 her husband was taken away by death and for the last 23 years she has been living with her daughter Miss Dena, who patiently and lovingly cared for her all these years.

About ten months ago, her son John W. passed away.

Surviving her are one Son, Wm. VanderBurg at Pipestone MN and 4 daughters; Mrs. John Vander Bey of Grand Rapids, MI, Mrs. Peter Wiersma and Miss Dena Vander Burg both of Orange City and Mrs. Henry Alberda of Seattle, WA. She also leaves 30 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren.

She was a member of the First Chr. Ref. church.

Private funeral services will be held at the home at 2 o'clock with Dr. R. L. Haan of Hull, officiating. Services will be attended by relatives only. Interment will be made in the local cemetery.
